Drawing on over 15 years of experience across industry and academia, Umair focuses on understanding why initiatives succeed or fail, how organizations create value for diverse stakeholders, and what leaders can do to improve performance in increasingly complex environments.
At Praxis Arc, Umair works with leadership teams to strengthen stakeholder relationships, improve decision-making, and bridge the gap between strategy and execution. His expertise spans organizational strategy, stakeholder value creation, human-centered research, customer and employee experience, responsible AI, service design, and business transformation.
Prior to co-founding Praxis Arc, Umair was part of the Human-Centered Design Practice at TD Bank Group, where he led research and strategy initiatives across personal banking, small business banking, digital experiences, financial well-being, emerging technologies, and open banking. His work informed product strategy, customer experience design, and enterprise-wide transformation efforts.
Umair also serves as Director and Assistant Professor of the Master of Management Sciences program in Business Analytics at the University of Waterloo. Throughout his career, he has worked with organizations across financial services, healthcare, technology, education, manufacturing, media, and the nonprofit sector, bringing together academic rigor, industry experience, and strategic insight to address complex organizational challenges.
More than two decades of experience in accounting, taxation, finance, and business advisory have shaped Salman's approach to helping organizations navigate complex financial, regulatory, and operational challenges. His work focuses on strengthening financial foundations, improving decision-making, managing risk, and supporting sustainable growth.
At Praxis Arc, Salman works with business owners, executives, boards, and leadership teams to align financial strategy with organizational objectives. His expertise spans financial management, taxation, regulatory compliance, business planning, financial structuring, governance, and strategic decision-making.
Throughout his career, Salman has advised businesses, professionals, charities, and not-for-profit organizations across a wide range of industries. He brings extensive experience helping organizations navigate financial stewardship, governance responsibilities, compliance requirements, and long-term growth, balancing financial discipline with broader organizational priorities.
Salman has also contributed thought leadership on Canadian taxation and regulatory matters through published articles and industry commentary. Known for translating complex financial and regulatory issues into practical business guidance, he helps organizations make informed decisions with confidence.
